How to write a blog post

Setting up your website is the most basic and essential step in your blogging journey but without engaging content, your blog will not get the necessary traffic. As we discussed in the previous week I assume that all of you have already set up your blogging sites by now if not then don’t worry just go and do that now. Writing your first blog post can be an overwhelming experience as you are just starting your journey. Fortunately for you, you don’t have to go through all that trouble I am going to show you some of the tools that I use and the different ways I write my blog.

Brainstorming ideas

The first step in writing excellent and engaging content for your blog post involves identifying great ideas. I personally come up with several ideas for every post. It helps you to choose the best one from the lot. When brainstorming there is a chance that you might come across a great idea unknowingly, just because you were in your flow state. So when you feel like you are in the moment just take a plain paper and start writing all your ideas for your blog post ideas. Write even your stupidest ideas (Belive me have written some very stupid ones). The goal here is not to write the best one the goal is just to write anything.

Narrowing your ideas by using SEO tools

The next step involves you narrowing down the ideas that you have written. You can start by crossing ideas that are way too crazy or difficult to write about. After you have done that you will be left with some ideas that are practical to use. You can now go narrow down the remaining ideas by using an SEO tool such as aherfs, google trends etc. the important thing to remember is to select the ideas that have not too much competition but have enough searches that you are going to get adequate traffic to your blog.

Finding the best title

As have you found the best idea for your blog post, you must now find the best title for your post. A good title makes the difference between someone clicking on it and someone not clicking on it. by using the same SEO tools as before select a suitable title. While selecting the title keep in mind that it is the thing that persuades the user to come and check out your post so it must create a sense of curiosity about your post as well as give a small clue about the topic of the post. (A good way to title your post is by using the how-to type or list of type) Select the one that you think is the best for your blog and go forward with it.

Giving a good introduction

The first few lines of your blog tell the reader about the quality of the blog and they decide whether they want to continue reading it based on the first few lines. Start your blog with an introduction- give a small premise of the content of the blog and carefully use some SEO keywords so that Google picks it up. In this manner, you will have a better chance of getting featured in the search results.

Providing great content

I am guessing that anyone who wants to start a blog might have already realised that you need good quality content to make a successful blog. You can either write it yourself or outsource it to someone else. Just know your audience – their likes, dislikes and interests. This is one of the easier parts as you can basically find a niche that you specialise in and write about it from your heart.

Conclusion

This simple step can make the difference for you. Simply put a heading CONCLUSION and write a short summary about your post. It helps to generate a sense of professionalism in your post.

Finally, you can end the blog with a question as it encourages the reader to write a comment, in turn, gives you more engagement.
